Creator Support
Creator Support lets you send one-time payments to creators whose posts, blogs, or collections matter to you. It is direct support with clear intent, separate from subscriptions.
What is Creator Support?
Creator Support is a one-time payment feature that lets you:
- Show Appreciation: Send a payment directly to a creator for a specific piece of content
- Support Creators: Back creators beyond recurring subscriptions
- One-Time Payments: These are single payments with no recurring charges
- Optional Messages: Include a message with your support (public or private)
How to Support a Creator
To send Creator Support:
- Find a post, blog post, or other content from a creator you want to support
- Look for the "Support" button (with a coffee icon ☕) near the content
- Click the Support button to open the support modal
- Choose an amount to send ($1, $5, $10, $25, $50, or enter a custom amount)
- Optionally add a message to the creator (you can choose to make it public or keep it private)
- Enter your payment information (credit or debit card)
- Click "Send Support" to complete the payment
The creator receives your payment, minus platform and processing fees, through their connected Stripe account.
Support Amounts
You can choose from preset amounts or enter a custom amount:
- Preset Amounts: $1, $5, $10, $25, or $50
- Custom Amount: Enter any amount you'd like (minimum $1)
- No Maximum: You can send any amount you want to show your support
Support Messages
When sending support, you can optionally include a message:
- Private Messages: Only the creator will see your message (default)
- Public Messages: Your message will appear as a support comment on the post, visible to others
- Message Length: Messages can be up to 500 characters
- Optional: You don't have to include a message if you prefer to support anonymously
Privacy and Visibility
Creator Support respects privacy:
- Support Count: Everyone can see how many people have supported a post (e.g., "☕ 5 supports")
- Amounts Private: The amount you send is never shown publicly. Only the creator can see individual support amounts
- Supporter Names: Only the creator can see who sent support and how much
- Public Messages: If you choose to make your message public, it will appear as a support comment visible to everyone
- Your Own Support: You can see your own support contributions on posts you've supported
Payment Processing
How payments work:
- Secure Payments: All payments are processed securely through Stripe
- Credit/Debit Cards: You can use any major credit or debit card
- Instant Processing: Payments are processed immediately
- Platform Fees: A small platform fee is included in the payment (this helps support LavishMade)
- Processing Fees: Standard Stripe processing fees apply
- Creator Receives: The creator receives the support amount minus platform and processing fees
Who Can Receive Support?
Not all creators can receive support:
- Stripe Account Required: Creators must have connected their Stripe account to accept support
- Verified Accounts: The creator's Stripe account must be verified and active
- Support Button: You'll only see the Support button on content from creators who can accept support
- No Support Button: If you don't see a Support button, that creator hasn't set up payment acceptance yet
Who Can Send Support?
Currently, you need to be signed in to send Creator Support:
- Account Required: You must have a LavishMade account and be logged in
- Payment Method: You'll need a valid credit or debit card to complete the payment
- No Account Needed Soon: We are working on support for people who are not logged in
Coming Soon: Creator Support for non-logged-in users is on the way.
Support vs. Subscriptions
Creator Support is different from paid subscriptions:
- One-Time vs. Recurring: Support is a one-time payment, subscriptions are recurring
- Content-Specific: Support is tied to a specific post or piece of content
- No Exclusive Access: Support doesn't give you access to paid-subscriber-only content
- Both Available: You can both subscribe to a creator AND send them support on individual posts
- Different Purposes: Subscriptions provide ongoing support and access, Creator Support is for appreciating specific content
Viewing Your Support History
You can see your support activity:
- On Posts: You can see your own support contributions on posts you've supported
- Account Settings: Your support history may be available in your account settings
- Email Receipts: You'll receive email confirmation for each support payment
Tip: If a piece of work teaches you something or gives you language for what you were feeling, Creator Support is the cleanest way to say thank you.
